Welcome to the Steinway Society of Western Pennsylvania
The Steinway Society of Western Pennsylvania is a not-for-profit organization
committed to encouraging young students and the general public to enjoy and
appreciate the music of the piano. The Society follows the tradition established
by the founders of the Steinway and Sons
Piano Company, of providing a showcase for pianists and other musicians to meet and perform for the public and each other. Each year the Steinway Society of Western Pennsylvania presents a series of five concerts by
distinguished pianists as well as two concerts featuring a group of promising young pianists in brief recitals.
The Society also offers monetary awards of $1,000 and $500 to the most promising young professionals studying piano in Western Pennsylvania based on a jury-judged competition. The winners are presented by the Society in a recital during his/her senior year.
Membership in the Society is open to all who have an interest in the furtherance of music and in the piano. Members receive advance notices of all concerts, news, announcements, and invitations to special events, and are also invited to meet the artists at a reception following each concert.
